Kitan Petkovski is a director, dramaturg and co-founder of Bullet Heart Club with collaborator Ro Bright. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Auckland, a Master’s in Directing for Performance from the Victorian College of the Arts and is a Director’s Lab (Melbourne Festival) alumni. He is a recipient of the Melbourne Global Scholars Award and Cybec Foundation scholarship. Kitan is currently an associate artist at Theatre Works (Melbourne).
Kitan's practice focuses on developing new work through hybrid performance-making methodologies that amalgamate storytelling with live music, physicality and film. His mentors include Cora Bissett at the National Theatre of Scotland and Neil Armfield AO at Belvoir St Theatre. Since 2015, he has been the creative director for the Scotsman Fringe First Award winning show Daffodils by Ro Bright. Kitan’s directing credits include; Elizabeth featuring singer/songwriter Lisa Crawley (Nominated for Best Cabaret, Melbourne Fringe 2017), Freefall co-directed with Milly Cooper (2018) and the development season of LuNa by Keziah Warner (Winner of the Sydney Theatre Company Patrick White Playwright’s Award 2019). He is currently working on the Australasian Premiere of Jesus, Queen of Heaven by transgender artist Jo Clifford and A Strange Nostalgia, an online work co-created with Ro Bright and Helena Erikkson.
